Some of the more popular New Year’s goals focuses on weight loss, health, and/or fitness in general. But keeping your motivation up through the year can be very challenging! Here are some tips that might help to keep in mind as you work on those health and fitness goals for the new year:
Make realistic and Achievable Goals: Making specific goals with a plan and timeline is one of the best ways to stay motivated throughout the year. Break down your goals into small, achievable targets so that you feel re-inspired each time you hit them. Then, make a plan for how you’re going to achieve them.
Have an Accountability Buddy: Working out with a friend or family member can help you both stay accountable throughout the year. If you don’t have a friend or family member to work out with, try out a personal trainer. Not only will they tailor your workouts to suit your needs, but they will also make sure you keep coming back!
Switch up your routines: Having a routine is great, but it can get a little monotonous over time. Try switching up your routine as the year goes on by trying new equipment or going to new group classes.
What’s your why: On your lowest days where you lack motivation, remind yourself of goal and what inspired you in the first place. Taking some time to reflect and refocus is an important part of the process.
And remember – no matter what your goals are, it will take time and hard work. Be patient with yourself and keep going, even if it gets a bit tough later on.
